It is said when an animal dies, it goes to a place between here and heaven called the Rainbow Bridge. All animals are restored to health and vigor regardless of age or infirmities. There is plenty of water and food, lush grass to run and play – even to sleep in!
They are content and happy, but for one thing – they all have Paws of Hope for the day they will meet their loved ones again.
![]() This is Sammy, a 3-year-old poodle mix. Sammy came to Paws of Hope hanging onto his life. He was very sick with what we hoped was just a nasty upper respiratory infection but turned out to be distemper. He was hospitalized for several days on antibiotics, fluids and a special liquid diet that had to be hand fed. In his brighter moments Sammy loved to be outside and lay out in the Florida sun. He was a sweet boy. Sammy spent only a short time in rescue and passed to Rainbow Bridge surrounded by his rescuers who came to love him dearly. |
Tiny Tim touched our hearts in such a short time. He was rescued from a horrible shelter but did not make it to see the next day. Tiny Tim did know that there were people who cared about him as he was a happy boy in his last few hours. He passed away in his sleep. He did not die alone, cold or hungry. He was a part of a family, the Paws of Hope family. We know he waits for us at the Bridge along with the others that we all love and miss. |
